Smokeless fire pits
How does a smokeless fire pit work?
A smokeless fire pit uses double-wall technology, where air flows in through the lower openings and is heated between the inner and outer walls. This warm air then exits through the top openings, causing secondary combustion that minimizes smoke by efficiently burning even the smallest wood particles.
Are the fire pits really smokeless?
Our fire pits are virtually smokeless, meaning they produce significantly less smoke than traditional fire pits. Thanks to double-wall technology and secondary combustion, even the smallest wood particles are efficiently burned, minimizing smoke.
However, it's important to note that after lighting the fire, it may take a few minutes for the airflow to fully kick in and the smoke to disappear. During this start-up phase, there may be a little smoke, but it quickly dissipates once the airflow is optimal.
Here you'll find more tips for your perfect fire experience.
Will there be burn marks if I use the fire pit without a base?
No, there are no scorch marks: The innovative double bottom, ash tray, and elevated design result in minimal heat transfer downward.
The fire pit can be placed directly on wood, stone, or grass without risk of scorch marks.
Never leave the fire unattended and fully extinguish it before leaving the fire pit.
Which fuels can I use?
You can use logs or pellets in the fire pit.
It's important that the wood is dry to prevent smoke. Hardwoods like beech, oak, or maple work best, as they burn hotter and longer, which helps the smokeless fire pit operate efficiently. Avoid damp or resinous wood.
How do I clean and care for my fire pit?
Let the fire pit cool down completely before removing the ashes. Regularly empty the ash pan and wipe the inner and outer bowls with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners to protect the surfaces.
Use the rain cover during wet weather.
Are smokeless fire pits safe to use?
Yes, smokeless fire pits are safe when used according to the instructions. Make sure they are placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface and keep them away from flammable materials. Never leave the fire unattended and fully extinguish it before leaving the fire pit.
How long does a smokeless fire pit last?
With proper care and regular cleaning, a smokeless fire pit can last for many years. High-quality materials and sturdy construction contribute to the durability of NORLIVA fire pits.
Why is there a price difference between the Essential and Premium lines?
The premium line consistently uses:
- thicker steel sheets (+0.3–0.5 mm)
- higher-quality surface finishing (enameling instead of powder coating)
- more expensive production processes
At the same time, with the Essential line, we have achieved especially economical production through optimized processes and higher quantities—a clear advantage for our customers.
By the way: We deliberately avoid using stainless steel for the outer basket, since enameling and powder coating already provide the necessary weather protection—without unnecessarily increasing the price.
Can I return my fire pit if I don't like it?
Yes, we offer every customer a 30-day return policy if the product is returned unused and undamaged. For more information, please see our return policy and terms and conditions.
Mobile sauna tents
How quickly can the sauna tent be set up?
The NORLIVA sauna tent sets up like a pop-up tent in just 1 to 2 minutes. Simply pull it apart, set up the frame, place and connect the stove—and you’re ready to go. The entire setup takes only about 5 minutes and requires no tools.
How long does it take for the tent to heat up?
After lighting the wood stove, it takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the outside temperature and wood quality, for the sauna to reach a comfortable operating temperature of 176°F to over 212°F.
How hot does it get in the sauna tent?
With good firewood and proper use, the sauna tent easily reaches temperatures over 100 °C. The insulation and double-walled stove ensure effective heat retention and distribution.
How can I control the temperature?
The temperature is controlled via the air supply on the stove. Additionally, you can regulate the heat inside by opening or closing the windows or the tent door.
Is the sauna tent safe?
Yes, when used properly, the sauna tent is absolutely safe. The oven gets very hot and should only be touched by the designated handle and only with heat protection gloves, e.g., when adding firewood. The tent material is flame-retardant and built to be robust. It’s important to set up on a stable, level surface and only use the oven with the chimney open.
Please note: Before first use, be sure to carefully read the safety instructions in the manual provided.
What material is the sauna tent made of?
The tent is constructed with three layers: the inside and outside are made of Oxford 420D fabric with a water-repellent and flame-retardant coating. In between is an insulating polyester layer. The windows are made of clear, flexible TPU plastic.
Can the sauna tent be left outdoors permanently?
Yes, the tent is designed for year-round outdoor use and withstands rain, snow, wind, and sun. Over time, UV exposure may cause some fading, but this does not affect functionality. If the sauna tent is left outdoors permanently, we recommend using a suitable rain cover, which is available directly from the Norliva shop. It withstands rain, snow, wind, and sun. Over time, UV exposure may cause some fading, but this does not affect functionality.
Do I need to burn in the stove?
Yes, before first use, the wood stove must be burned out outdoors to remove any manufacturing residues and odors. This process should never be done inside the tent.
Does the tent or stove emit any chemicals?
No. Once the stove has been properly burned in, it no longer releases harmful or volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The tent is free from harmful emissions and is designed to be breathable.
Where can I set up the tent?
The NORLIVA sauna tent can be used flexibly – in your own backyard, at campsites, or out in nature. No building permit is required on private property. When using it in the wild, be sure to observe local regulations and nature conservation rules.
On what type of ground can I set up the tent?
The ideal surface is flat—grass, wood, sand, or even ice. Avoid sharp stones or uneven ground to prevent injuries and material damage.
Is it normal for the stovepipe to glow?
Yes, that's completely normal and indicates strong heat generation. This does not affect the function or lifespan of the stove.
How do I care for the sauna tent?
The tent itself is low-maintenance. It’s enough to regularly clean the stove of ash and soot. After use, the tent should be stored dry to prevent mold from forming.
When can I pack up the sauna tent after use?
Once the stove has cooled down safely, the tent can be folded up again. The stove and chimney pipes should be completely cool before storing—no need for active cooling with water.
Does the tent fit in a car?
Yes, the tent and stove easily fit into most station wagons. For smaller vehicles, you may need to fold down the back seats.
